University of Maine System Engineer IV or V - Research Manager or Senior Research Manager - Structural Design & Composites in Portland, Maine
Statement of the Job:
Support, plan, and conduct assigned and/or original research in a variety of research and development projects encompassing material sciences, manufacturing, and the engineering of composites and structures while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center. This position is located in Portland, Maine. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is commensurate with Career Level:
Engineer IV – up to $125,000
Engineer V – up to $135,000
This position requires access to information regulated under U.S. Export Control regulations and therefore individuals must qualify as a U.S. Person under U.S. Export Control Regulations.

Qualifications:
Required:
M.S. with 7-10 years of experience.
Comprehensive knowledge in some of the following areas: advanced composites, composite manufacturing, finite element modeling, engineering design, advanced mechanics of materials, additive manufacturing.
Significant experience in the analysis and design of structural composites.
Knowledge and experience with Government customers government funded programs and contracts.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience of managing a team of research staff and students.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet constant deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to interact with industry members.
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3-5 years of professional experience.
