AUTO TECHNICIAN II

Public Works Department, Fleet Services

NEW WAGE INCREASE plus up to \$2,500 Sign On Bonus Available!

Schedule will be Monday thru Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (includes paid lunch break)

The Department of Public Works seeks skilled individuals who will perform general service, overhaul and repair work on light and heavy-duty trucks and other automotive and mechanical equipment with a focus on heavy-duty.

Requirements:

  • This position requires knowledge of diagnosis, operation of gasoline and diesel engines, and standard practices of the mechanic trade.
  • Must possess valid Maine Class B drivers license (Class A desired) or have ability to obtain within six (6) months (City will help to obtain Class A or B license).
  • Must possess valid Vehicle Inspection License A, D & E (can obtain within 6 months) and must provide copies of license.
  • Successful applicants must pass pre-employment medical exam and fitness assessment and pass federally mandated drug test upon attainment of CDL permit and must have and maintain a good driving record.

Salary & Benefits:

Assignment and pay grade will be based on inspection license status, skills and drivers license status.

This is a union position, Labor and Trades (Grade 61) - \$1,150.80/week (\$28.77/hr.) to \$1,246.00/week (\$31.15/hr.), depending on years of experience, plus an additional \$1.00 market rate stipend per hour and \$.50/hour for each ASE up to \$4.00.
