MAIN DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Codes,standards,andspecifications: Interpretation oftheintentandensuringtherequirementsofcodes,standardsandspecificationsaremet.
  • Weldingprocedures:Ensuringthataprocedureisavailable,hasbeenapprovedandisbeingemployedinproduction.
  • Witnessingofwelderandprocedureapprovaltests:Witnessingthepreparationoftestplates and destructive tests and verifying compliance with appropriate standards andspecifications.
  • Welderapprovals:Verifyingthatadequate andvalidwelderapprovalsareavailable,andthatonlyapprovedweldersareusedinproduction.
  • Parentmaterial:Verifyingparentmaterialagainstdocumentationandmarkings.
  • Weldingconsumablesidentity: Verificationofcorrectnessofweldingconsumables(electrodes,fillerwires,consumableinserts,gases,fluxesetc.)
  • In processweldinginspectionandsurveillance:Surveillanceduringweldingtoverifycompliance with specified procedures including any preweld, dimensional, preheat, interpasstemperaturecontrolandpostheatrequirements.
  • InspectionandTestPlans: Assistanceandagreementwiththepreparation of InspectionandTestPlans(ITPs).
  • Non-destructive Test reports (NDT): Using NDT methods such as liquid penetrant,magneticparticle, radiography,orultrasonicinspectionasapplicableinaccordancewithcontractualrequirements.
  • Evaluationofandpreparationofinspectionreportsfortheemployerortheclient.
  • Maintenanceofrecordsofinspectionscarriedout.

QUALIFICATIONS and ATTRIBUTES


ESSENTIAL
Minimum 2 years experience as a welder. Ability to identify new processes and procedures for continual improvement Associate degree in welding technology or related equivalent experience Have inspection experience and knowledge; ability to read and interpret technical drawings Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification ACCP Level 2 Always prepared to learn and listen Never approve the start of welding until the welding procedure has been approved Always ensure the welding is being carried out within the limits of the approved procedure

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Workingconditionsarenormalforaweldingenvironmentwhere exposuretomovingmechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperatureextremesandelevatednoiselevel.
  • While performingthedutiesofthisjob,theemployeeisregularlyrequiredtostand,stoop,kneel,climb,crouch,talkandhear.
  • Specificvisionabilitiesrequiredbythisjobincludeclosevision,peripheralvision,depthperceptionandabilitytoadjustfocus.

  • Accurate lay out, fitting and fabrication of structures and hydraulic systems.

RELATIONSHIPS

Birdons senior management team, including Divisional Managers, may provide additional direction and duties from time to time.

Clear communication and interpersonal skills are necessary as direct contact with Birdon clients, prospective clients, and production team is an important aspect of this position.
