Stryker Corporation Principal Software Engineer in Portage, Michigan

Stryker Corporation seeks Principal Software Engineer in Portage, MI, to mentor a technical team in the design and development of components, sub-systems, and systems for medical devices. Play a key role in cooperative efforts with Research and Development (R&D), Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure project success. Apply and mentor others on advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts. Support team members to create and improve procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology requirements. Assess and integrate new technologies and capabilities, including prototyping and testing. Mentor and influence the resolution of complex product design issues. Lead code reviews for projects and systems as an independent reviewer applying design principles, coding standards, and best practices. Navigate and influence the intellectual landscape for filings and protection. Translate user needs into design inputs and specifications, including production of system and architectural layouts and platform designs. Develop and influence invention disclosures, patents, or trade secrets. Lead architecture of a complex system and guide design tradeoff decisions, including ensuring compliance with the Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC) standards. Generate and review requirements, design, architecture, and testing documentation with project teams. Partner with customers and internal and external key opinion leaders to develop technical strategies that meet clinical needs. Strategize and execute customer-facing activities like Voice Of the Customer (VOC) and customer centric design. Collaborate on financial and business modeling, including support business reviews to validate a technical approach. Act as divisional expert in applying industry standards in device development. Act as independent reviewer and advisor for the creation or refinement of engineering documentation, including the design history file.

 

Requires: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eight (8) years of experience as Software Developer or related occupation developing and testing software in a 3D graphics-related environment, or, alternatively, a Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus six (6) years of experience as Software Developer or related occupation developing and testing software in a 3D graphics-related environment. Specific skills/other requirements - Demonstrated Expertise (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Demonstrated expertise (DE) applying algorithms to virtual or real-world navigation in 3D space; (DE) utilizing a 3D computer graphics system - Unity, Unreal, OpenGL, VTK, ITK and/or Qt - to develop a commercial application; and (DE) performing software verification and validation activities. Position requires 10% domestic travel. Telecommute position performed from anywhere in the U.S. Salary Range: $176,798.99 to $279,500. Salary Offered: $176,798.99.
