*Job Summary:                   * Instruct students in grades 6-7-8 in activities designed to promote a flexible Art program and provide an environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability. Provide a variety of Art media and techniques to promote student self-expression.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*

Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including but not limited to crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, design, commercial are, art history and/or three-dimensional art, utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.

Provide instruction to students with appropriate art media in those skills that enable students to communicate ideas, images, symbols and feelings in visual forms

Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.

Employ techniques and provide opportunities for students to recognize, identify, and utilize qualities in visual work such as line, color, shape, intensity, value, texture, composition and contrast.

Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time

Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.

Instructs students in proper care and use of tools and equipment and organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse

Selects and requisitions instructional materials and maintains inventory reports

Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities

Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress

In cooperation with the teacher, establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for an orderly, productive environment.

Review, evaluate and make recommendations regarding the instructional program and instructional materials to the administration.

Design instructional objectives, teaching schedule and prepare reports as required.

Assist in planning and development of art exhibits and art fairs

Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities

Performs other dut
