SMX is hiring an Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Technician with a strong background in installing, configuring and maintaining ESS solutions to join our team!
This position will be located in the Port Hueneme, CA metro area and will implement Electronic Security Systems solutions directly for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF), Special Communications Mission Solutions (SCMS) Division to support a subset of Tactical and Remote C5I Edge Systems (TARCES) projects including legacy, current and next generation telecommunication and related communications-electronics (C-E) systems requirements and the design, development, integration, test and evaluation, fielding and sustainment of industry standard electronic security systems, subsystems, and components.
As an ESS Technician on our team, you’ll be responsible for providing technical inputs and recommendations to government customers and integrated project teams. You will support preventative and corrective maintenance efforts for Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) security hardware related to Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Alarm Systems, Indoor and Outdoor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Controller and Reader Modules, Open Architecture Security solutions, Automated Vehicle Gates (AVG) and Automated Vehicle Barriers (AVB). You’ll help clients overcome tough challenges through professional communication and task management, and your knowledge will be vital as you identify areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with Project Managers, Government Project Leads and Integrated project personnel to respond to support Electronic Security System (ESS) projects
Lead implementation and integration planning of (ESS) hardware and software solutions
Conduct regression testing and validation of new (ESS) technologies
Lead on-site technical tasking and provide accountability with proper reporting
Coordinating and scheduling (ESS) preventative and corrective maintenance visits at Government facilities CONUS/OCONUS
Reviewing as-built documentation ahead of maintenance visits to prepare a Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Risk and Mitigation reporting
Prepare, review, and submit documentation in support of all on-site testing and maintenance activities to include submission of any Preventative Maintenance (PM) report
Train end users on (ESS) solutions installed with industry standard manuals and documentation
Work with industry standard vendors to evaluate and research new products and resolve equipment configuration or design issues
Maintain technical best practices and study vendor products to determine those which best meet Government current and future requirements
Assist the Integrated Project personnel to track equipment deliveries from the vendor to Government facilities
Provide solution engineering for (ESS) projects with focus on planning on execution
Implementing (ESS) solutions while considering operational environments, reliability, interoperability and overall life cycle effectiveness
Required Skills & Experience
Required Clearance: Secret
Hight school diploma and 4+ years of applicable Security System or Electronic Technician work experience
4+ years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in ESS installation and maintenance

Lenel OnGuard Closed Restricted Network (CRN)
DAQ Security Management System CRN
Software House CCure 9000
Honeywell-Vindicator CRN
Magnasphere
HID
Axis
Pelco
Milestone or Bosch Security Systems
Must be willing to obtain the following certifications:
Lenel Certified Professional
Axis Certified Professional
Milestone Certified Integration Technician
Knowledge of industry best practices for server, computer, and network administration. Including but not limited to backups, security, and documentation
Critical-thinking skills to communicate, review, and successfully carry out system maintenance
Organizational skills to perform several tasks at one time, keep detailed records, and simultaneously manage several projects in a fast-paced environment
Desired Skills & Experience
Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense Clearance: Secret or higher
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/IT or Engineering discipline
DOD/Military support experience preferred
Certified Lenel Professional, Axis Certified Professional or Milestone Certified Integration Technician
Knowledge of IP based security camera systems
Knowledge of Network Video Recorders or Security Video Management Software
Knowledge of LENEL security systems
CompTIA Server+ certification
