JOB SUMMARY:
The Quartz Plant Operator controls, analyzes, and adjusts the operation of fixed heavy equipment for the purpose of purifying quartz sand to be used in the glass industry. They are responsible for operating a fluidized bed dryer, conveyors, bucket elevators and other processing equipment as required to produce high purity quartz sand.
The Quartz Plant operator also provides instructions to drivers for loading, perform sample testing, input data, analyze results and perform other duties as required to ensure quality products and safe operating conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work in a safe manner and abide by all YBP and MSHA safety rules, regulations, and best practices Perform routine inspection and maintenance on plant equipment.
Run quality control tests on products made.
Assist with plant repairs, maintenance and housekeeping.
Maintain material quality.
Maintains constant awareness of safety, efficiency and displays a flexibility and out of the box thinking with the capability to solve problems.
Communicate production and maintenance needs to plant management.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Day shift position, must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
Ability to operate a fluid bed dryer.
Ability to be able to assist with plant repairs, maintenance and housekeeping.
Ability to run quality control tests on products made.
Prior experience operating asphalt, sand or aggregate plant.
Experience with aggregate dryers, screens and conveyors.
Work in a physically demanding environment.
Have basic computer skills and be able to perform plant record keeping.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time; climb, shovel, squat, grip, crawl, push/pull, as well as bend and lift up to 50lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Perform all work in accordance with YBP Safety policies.
The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.
Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
- Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
