The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer specializing in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to join our team.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and updating a comprehensive digital model of the propulsion system that serves as the "authoritative source of truth" (ASOT) for both internal and external stakeholders. Model-Based System Engineering techniques to build the digital model which will then be used to assess system performance relative to requirements, conduct trade studies, and communicate design status to stakeholders. The digital model will continue to evolve with the product through manufacturing, development, and production, utilizing data from each phase of the product life cycle to provide value to the organization and customer. The model will comprise a wide range of inputs involving a multitude of technical disciplines and business units such that both product performance and life cycle value stream can be assessed.

The Systems Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Integrate and implement the systems engineering process for turbine-based propulsion systems and the interfacing aircraft systems, defining requirements, performing analyses, tracking reliability, hazards and risk information for the lifecycle of the assigned program
  • Provide technical leadership in MBSE concepts and design
  • Work with cross functional engineering teams to organize data and information in accordance with the relevant Government Reference Architectures (GRA)
  • Substantiate and inform design decisions for technical leadership
  • Define and track system, subsystem and component verification and validation
  • Create best practices and mentor other engineers in MBSE
  • Work closely with the Program Management team to collaborate with the customer throughout the project
  • Produce timely customer-defined data packages at regular intervals
  • Drive design gate reviews through MBSE tools containing requisite data and documentation that satisfactorily address all entry and exit criteria

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

7+ years of technical experience within Systems Engineering

Broad technical knowledge base of turbine engine or airframe technology

Proficiency with Model Based Engineering processes/principles/tools and Digital Transformation methodologies to enable application of these approaches across diverse products

Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle, roles and functions, including deriving requirements into actionable steps

Experience creating and maintaining system models from zero, including SysML diagrams and DoDAF diagrams

Experience with FMEA, FMECA, or Fault Tree Analysis

Familiarity with Electronics or Software systems

Demonstrates ability as a team play to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships across the organization

Demonstrates interpersonal skills with effective negotiation and conflict-resolution experience
