Atlantic Health System Medical Laboratory Scientist I, CMC Point of Care Per Diem in Pompton Plains, New Jersey
Responsible for ensuring the daily operations of Point of Care Testing program in various clinical departments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting patient safety.
Principal Accountabilities:
Follow POCT policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Assist on maintaining adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory.
Maintains clear, real-time communications with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department.
Assist with regular audits and assist with validation of new and/or replacement POC devices.
Perform quality control tasks and ensure accuracy and reliability of POCT results.
Assist with preparation and maintaining documentation for inspections, certifications, and accreditations related to POCT.
Able to adhere to all regulatory requirements for various authorities including but not limited to CAP, TJC and OSHA.
Maintain competencies and continuing education.
Proficient in using laboratory information systems and data management tools (RALS, LIS, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
D ocumented training as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b)
Non-degree semester hours in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science will be evaluated as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) required
ASCP eligible required
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science preferred
Associate’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science and experience as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) preferred
If major is not specified on diploma, transcript required
If foreign degree, foreign equivalency documents required
Minimum 2 years Blood Bank experience preferred, if applicable
New MLS/ CLS/ MLT/ AAS graduates welcome!
