Job Title: Financial Aid Counselor

Job Description

As a Financial Aid Counselor, you will manage the Federal Work Study (FWS) program, including hiring students, setting up the FWS yearly process, running payroll, and conducting bi-weekly reconciliations between university payroll and FWS records. You will monitor student earnings to ensure they do not exceed their award amounts and perform end-of-year reconciliations with payroll to ensure accurate earnings. Additionally, you will assist in federal reporting to the Department of Education, communicate with hiring departments, colleges, and the payroll department, and conduct training sessions for both students and hiring departments/colleges on the responsibilities of holding an FWS position.

You will also handle loan packaging and processing by analyzing and evaluating the eligibility of graduate financial aid applicants for awarding, loan creations, disbursements, budget increases, and loan adjustments.

In your counseling services role, you will provide critical and diverse counseling to financial aid applicants, students, families, and the community in an accurate, timely, and professional manner. This includes counseling on budgeting, student loans, repayment options, professional judgment, and exit counseling. You will also be responsible for conducting oral presentations such as entrance and exit presentations, webinars, TEAMS and Zoom presentations, and miscellaneous workshops.

This is a fully on-site position in Pomona, California.

Work Environment

M-F onsite, 8-5 with hybrid opportunity, 5 other counselors, report to Dr.
