Summary The Dentist position serves as a staff Dental Officer for the Hopi Health Care Center located in Polacca, Arizona. The position is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating commonly encountered dental diseases and dental health problems. Perform Standard Dental Practices/Procedures and Difficult Dental Practices/Procedures. Makes oral and radiographic examination of the oral cavity and diagnosis of pathological or irregular conditions. Performs restoration of simple and compound cavities with standard and prescribed material. Administers local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as indicated. Performs single and relatively uncomplicated multiple extractions of teeth. Removes erupted and impacted teeth, residual root tips and teeth with exocytosed roots and removes localized foreign bodies from the gingival tissues and alveolar sockets. Qualifying experience: Involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position. OR Completed a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science.
