Job Title: Civil Assistant Project Manager

Job Description

Assist in the mentoring and management of a team on engineering projects, investigations, and preparation of plans. Oversee and prepare engineering construction documents for residential, commercial, and industrial developments, including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, earthwork, soil erosion and sediment control, and civil/site permitting. Perform design tasks, prepare complex stormwater calculations and reports, and ensure technical accuracy and standard engineering practices are followed. Maintain accurate project records and documentation and attend training for professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mentoring and management of a team on engineering projects, investigations, and preparation of plans.

  • Oversee and prepare engineering construction documents for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

  • Perform design tasks such as layouts, grading, and drainage.

  • Prepare complex stormwater calculations and reports.

  • Prepare flood studies and flood hazard area permitting.

  • Ensure technical accuracy and adherence to standard engineering practices.

  • Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for assigned projects.

  • Attend training for professional development.

  • Conform to the company’s standard CAD procedures for layering and drawing.

  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.

  • Actively manage the project team to ensure coordination and project completion.

  • Coordinate projects with clients and other consultants.

  • Prepare written correspondence to outside agencies and clients.

  • Prepare proposals and assist other departments with engineering and technical support as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Project Management Experience

  • Strong Technical Review and Design Experience

  • Experience in Stormwater Management and Grading

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.

  • 5-10 years of experience.

  • EIT or PE License preferred but not required.

  • Understanding of Civil Engineering as it pertains to Land Development.

  • Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations in New York or New Jersey.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site layouts design.

  • Proficiency in grading and other site development designs.

  • Technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, and hydrological analysis.

  • Knowledge of hydrologic or hydraulic software (HydraFlow, HydroCAD, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or similar).

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical and judgment capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to lead a team with a focus on staff development, training, and mentoring.

  • Willingness to learn and assume increased responsibilities.

  • Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Work Environment

Brand new office building with a small team of about 5 people, looking to hire more. The position offers hybrid flexibility with one day working from home.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.48
