This position is a 9-month-a-year position.\ Instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual\ growth needed for later success in life.\ Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to.
Works with the center director and teacher assistant to ensure planning and\ implementation of learning experiences that advance the intellectual and\ physical development of children, including improving the readiness of\ children for school by developing their literacy, phonemic, and print\ awareness, their understanding and use of language, their understanding and\ use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of\ books, their understanding of early math and early science, their problem-\ solving abilities, and their approaches to learning.
Works with the center director and teacher assistant to establish and maintain\ a safe and healthy learning environment.
Work with the center director and teacher assistant to support the childrens\ social and emotional development of the children.
Works with the center director and the teacher assistant to encourage the\ involvement of the families of the children in a Head Start program and\ support the development of relationships between children and their families.
Works with the teacher assistant to ensure that the classroom and the\ childrens restrooms are kept clean and sanitary.
Prepares weekly lesson plans to be approved by the Child Development\ Education Manager.
Works with mentor-coach if need to improve teaching skills.
Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social,\ and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others,\ and using play equipment.
Organizes and participates in games, reads to children, and guides them in\ painting, drawing, pre-literacy activities, songs, and finger-lays in both indoor\ and outdoor learning environments.
Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care.\ Attends referrals, evaluations, and review conferences for children with\ identified needs for special services.
Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to\ avoid overstimulation and fatigue.
? Helps children develop habits of caring for their own clothing and picking up\ and putting away toys and books.
Assess all children using Teaching Strategies Gold. Plans individual goals for\ children based on assessment. ABC and CCDF Teachers also will complete\ work sampling.
Includes IEP goals, family or parent goals, and mental health goals on weekly\ lesson plans for individual children.
Will conduct a minimum of two parent-teacher conferences, and two home-\ visits annually. Information shared with parents will be based on reports\ generated from Teaching Strategies Gold.
Directs and assists children in eating, resting, and toileting.
Reviews childrens folders on a regular basis to stay current on all\ documentation.
Stays abreast of health information pertaining to children, works with the\ family advocate to maintain current documentation in the childs folder.
Works with teacher assistant to carry out all health and safety-related\ activities with children, tooth brushing, daily health checks, hand washing,\ teaching safe and health practices through curriculum and safety drills.
Meets with the family advocates to share information about each child and\ family and to coordinate services to meet their needs.
Completes child portfolios with specific requirements.\ Serves meals and snacks to children and participates in family-style dining.
Uses Conscious Discipline to guide childrens behavior.
Will comply with all regulations pertaining to the reporting of child abuse and\ neglect.
Maintains all documentation and paperwork required for program\ implementation.
Maintains knowledge base in CCDF regulations, Head Start performance\ standards, Environment Rating Scales, Childcare Licensing, Conscious\ Discipline, Early Childhood best practices, and all curricula used by BRAD Child\ Development Programs.
Responsible for progression in professional development.\ \
