The Opportunity

This position is based out of the Plymouth, MN location in the Electrophysiology Division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives

The Product Stewardship Manager will lead the Electrophysiology Division’s Product Stewardship program. This role will ensure compliance with global regulations regarding material usage for our life-saving medical devices. This role is part of the Electrophysiology Global Operations team. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with teams in Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Research and Development, Manufacturing, and Global Supply Chain. This role will also collaborate with the corporate Product Stewardship team.

What You’ll Work On

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Product Stewardship legislation. Current legislation includes, but is not limited to: REACH-like, RoHS-like, EU MDR, EU BPR, EU POPs, CA Prop 65, US Conflict Minerals, and EPR (WEEE, Battery, Packaging).

  • Manages the advancement Abbott objectives on emerging chemical/environmental issues with trade associations such as MedTech Europe and other similar country organizations.

  • Interacts with governmental agencies and trade associations to address technical questions related to product stewardship and compliance.

  • Monitors and manages communication of Product Stewardship regulatory issues. Identifies and analyzes emerging regulations and trends, evaluates impact on Abbott businesses and develops strategies to address.

  • Advances Abbott's objectives on Product Stewardship with agencies, trade associations, peer companies and governmental organizations through advocacy.

  • Provides expert regulatory support and interpretations for Abbott divisions.

  • Develops, implements, and manages the global Product Stewardship program for the coordination, prioritization and tracking of regulatory activities.

  • Provides leadership support to global Product Stewardship initiatives and regulatory compliance.

  • Initiates or contribute to improvements within Product Stewardship that impacts business and work collaboratively with other functional areas.

  • Lead Product Stewardship compliance checks, being accountable for the identification and closure of compliance deficiencies.

  • Develop long range plans to support Product Stewardship strategy.

  • Mentor others by sharing knowledge expertise and providing feedback and guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in EHS, Toxicology, Chemistry, Engineering, or other science.

  • 12 years of Product Stewardship, Regulatory, Operational or Research & Development experience. Post-graduate education / degree may contribute towards desired years of experience.

  • Supervisory and employee development experience.

  • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Experience in restricted substance management (e.g., REACH, RoHS) preferred.

  • Experience in working with and leading cross-functional business unit teams.

  • Must possess critical thinking, problem solving and planning skills.

  • Must use sound judgement and ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and in teams.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to lead a program and be the face of Product Stewardship for EP.

  • Ability to lead a team and make decisions fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.

The base pay for this position is $125,300.00 – $250,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
