Zwilling J.A. Henkels Chef Instructor - Zwilling Cooking Studi in Pleasantville, New York
In this role, you can be expected to do the following:
Organization:
Assist with proper daily class preparation and execution as directed by Resident Chef.
Manage classes developed by ZWILLING J.A. Henckels.
Instruct and oversight of kitchen assistants and porters/dish washers.
Work with the team on cleaning and sanitizing the cooking studio and culinary kitchen after all events.
Culinary Instructions:
Willing to follow all ZWILLING J.A. Henckels provided concepts, menus, and recipes.
Teach and demonstrate cooking techniques and knife skills.
Lead instruction for Cooking Studio events and corporate-sponsored programs.
Provide ongoing coaching and constructive feedback to Kitchen Assistants.
Culinary Expertise:
Ability to distinguish, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors or recognizing specific flavors or odors using tongue or nose.
Ensure that food taste, presentation and service is high-quality.
Knowledge of basic and advanced cooking techniques.
Highly interested in quality products and new developments in the food/culinary business.
Basic wine/beer/spirits knowledge and willingness to learn.
Ability to handle, serve and pour liquor, wine, and beer and/or mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, etc. for preparation of cocktails and other beverages.
Sales:
Utilizing strong salesmanship to promote retail sales before, during and after classes.
Together with the Resident Chef and Culinary Program Manager, serve as an ambassador of the studio to build class participation and return business.
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for 2-3 hours at a time.
Ability to reach, push, grab, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, etc. to retrieve and/or replenish merchandise or handle cooking equipment.
Ability to move and/or lift merchandise and/or kitchen equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Resident Chef.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 5 years experience in Teaching, Food Preparation, and Catering is highly preferred. Culinary degree or equivalent Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef experience. Previous Sales experience is preferred. Availability and flexibility to work 3 to 4 events monthly, including evenings and weekends. Willing to participate in training provided by ZWILLING J.A. Henckels. Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Managers Certification. Customer-focused approach with a dedication to inspire and engage class participants. Superior organizational skills; must be able to manage and execute multiple tasks with accuracy. Demonstrated successful teaching and training experience. Excellent communication and customer focused skills with an affinity for cooking, a desire to learn, and a willingness to support The ZWILLING Cooking Studio concept for long-term growth. Knowledgeable about several cuisines. Open-minded to recipes. Additional Data:
Please note that you will be scheduled for events that may include evenings and weekends. All candidates must possess valid current authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
