Position Summary

The R&D Engineer III develops innovative products that address important urological conditions. As an integral member of the R&D team, this position is primarily responsible for developing new products and significantly improving existing products regarding customer features, reliability, and cost. This role requires expertise in mechanical design and analysis, product reliability, and experience with design and development and design for manufacturability. This role requires various technical skills, including failure analysis, testing, prototyping, statistical analyses, component design, and knowledge of plastic and metal component fabrication techniques.

Principal Responsibilities

• Develop new products and product concepts using existing and emerging technologies per Design Control requirements.

• Spearhead and execute modifications and changes to products currently being marketed to improve and optimize performance.

• Define customer requirements and engineering specifications.

• Ideation, concept generation, and patent disclosure submissions.

• Design prototypes and feasibility models for proof of concept testing.

• Design and conduct experiments to establish robust product performance that meets customer requirements.

• Maintain sufficient and accurate technical records in an engineering notebook per company policies.

• Develop new test methods as needed.

• Analytically assess data and test methods to evaluate designs and down select.

• Prepare project-related documentation.

• Prepare and manage test protocols, reports, and other aspects of the verification and validation effort.

• Partner with suppliers to develop new components.

• Partner closely with manufacturing and quality engineers to incorporate design for manufacturability.

• Support manufacturing new and existing products.

• Stay current with technology, practices, and general engineering knowledge related to the R&D Engineering field through seminars, literature, and peer groups.

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related major; 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Exceptional mechanical design and analysis skills.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks.

• Exposure to all phases of product development, including design, implementation, verification, validation, and manufacturing.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with ISO 13485, MDD/MDR, and FDA QSR.

The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $120,000 – $125,000; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will also include benefits such as medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, participation in a 401(k) savings plan, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO, short-and long-term disability and parental leave, dependent on the position offered.
