How Will You Make an Impact

As the Lead Material Handler at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. In this role, you will provide shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services for finished goods, inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment at our facility in Pleasanton, CA. Your exceptional attention to detail and flawless execution will ensure that our customers receive accurate products in a timely manner.

A Day in the Life

  • Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and accurately process items for storage and/or shipment according to established procedures and customer requirements.

  • Maintain a high level of quality to ensure accurate products and meet customers' timelines.

  • Receive materials and/or finished goods daily, inspect quality, and accurately record materials per received documentation.

  • Safely operate distribution equipment as necessary.

  • Collaborate with the Team Leader and Supervisor for day-to-day operations management.

  • Serve as a backup to the Team Leader and Supervisor.

  • Satisfactorily complete Thermo Fisher Scientific training requirements and operate within all ISO standards pertaining to site Distribution.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in distribution, warehouse, supply chain, or a related field is required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and other internal departments involved in daily workflow.

  • Experience in a distribution or shipping role, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Desire to work as part of a team, but also able to work independently and solve problems quickly.

  • Experience in Continuous Improvement.

  • Good knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures.

  • Flexibility with recurring work situations and tasks.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with relevant software (Excel, Word, SAP, E1 ERP).

  • Collaborating with the Team Lead or Supervisor to develop and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.

  • Ability to perform as a backup to the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor and run the entire Warehouse operation without interruption to the business.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Follow warehouse safety standards and use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

  • Work in cold room temperature and frozen room temperature.

  • Work in a team-based environment.

  • Lift up to 25 lbs and stand and move around the warehouse for extended periods.

  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.

  • Ability to work outside of regular work hours.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $27.66–$35.59.
