Sippel Development Co., Inc. Heavy Equipment Operator in Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Operating heavy earthmoving equipment including dozer, excavator, off-road haul truck, compaction equipment, skid-steer loader, backhoe, wheel loader for construction of residential and commercial developments and utility repair and installation. 

Essential Functions

  • Operates heavy equipment of various sizes in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures.  Brings safety issues to the attention of the foreman, superintendent or HR representative.
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment and reports defects or needed repairs to the foreman and/or superintendent.
  • Ensures compliance with company control standards and procedures.
  • Proactively communicates with foreman, superintendent and coworkers.
  • Promotes teamwork that increases productivity and efficiency. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Extreme weather conditions at the job sites.
  • Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

     

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting and climbing for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work and walk on uneven terrain.

Position Type and Hours

This is a full time position, 40 hours per week.  Days and hours of work vary according to job.  Occasional evening, weekend and overtime work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel may occasionally be required.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years' experience in operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work from construction specifications and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Degree or certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field
  • Five years' experience in operating heavy equipment related to site development.
  • Valid driver's license with CDL endorsement.
