About you and this Role
As the Senior Process Automation Engineer, you serve as a technical resource and process automation lead for small to large capital and improvement projects, both regionally and globally. You oversee and manage both Dow and contract project resources. You are involved in all three phases of projects: front end loading, detailed design and construction, and commissioning and startup. This role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in your job discipline and broadens your capabilities.
Responsibilities
Create the process control overview for the project and develop user requirement system specifications.
Estimate the process automation cost and schedule for the project and manage against these baselines.
Build the functional requirement specification (FRS) for the system & create detailed design specifications (DDS).
Develop control software, operator graphics and simulation software.
Complete the factory acceptance test (FAT) commissioning, as necessary.
Provide training of operations and support commissioning and start-up of the new asset.
Track progress, schedules, and costs for the PA team during all project phases.
Complete technical review of the control team work and provide coaching / corrective feedback.
Determine testing scenarios and oversee the simulation of the control system to test the strategy and improvements.
Participate in project scoping activities, and drive strategic solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
Engage with stakeholders and cross-discipline and cross-functional global project teams.
Identify and deploy Most Effective Technology (MET) standard solution components to meet project requirements.
Support future process improvements and product development/solution roadmap.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Chemical Engineering preferred).
At least 3 year of process automation, engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.
Knowledge in commercial DCS systems, ABB 800xA, DeltaV, Dow Mod5, ABB MOD300, Foxboro, and /or Triconex is preferred.
Experience in hydrocarbons cracker manufacturing technologies is preferred.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

The Senior Process Automation Engineer must be able to drive knowledge exchange with technology experts, establish credibility with the operations team, and effectively interact with multiple functions and diverse individuals to achieve goals.
Continuous Improvement Focus: The role demands a strong focus on continuous improvement. This includes improving proprietary process automation technology and participating in project development and execution to enhance work processes.
Safety and Compliance: A Senior Process Automation Engineer must champion process safety activities and act as a resource for relevant process safety concerns. This includes designing and implementing potential Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) solutions utilizing the proper resources and work processes.
Data Analysis:In the process automation space, data analysis skills are crucial for developing, testing, and commissioning automation software and operator interface software, as well as creating automated reporting systems.
Technical Expertise: A Senior Process Automation Engineer must possess in-depth process technology and continuous improvement skill sets. This includes leveraging technical expertise to optimize plant operations, troubleshoot plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low-cost, quality products.
