Chewy Direct Tax Analyst in Plantation, Florida

About the Role

We currently have an opening for an Income Tax Analyst who will be reporting directly to the Tax Manager and will be primarily responsible for federal, state, and local compliance, research, month-end close duties, and various other projects and related tasks! The goal of this position is to ensure that all income tax functions are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as keeping the tax team management inform of activities and any significant challenges or issues.

Keys to success in this role:

  • Shown experience of 3+ years in income tax.

  • Knowledge of tax related laws and regulations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, CPA eligible or CPA preferred.

  • Knowledge of income tax compliance and state taxes.

  • Strong research, accounting ledger, and reconciliation skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and prioritise multiple tasks.

  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal skills; and a standout colleague!

  • Detail oriented, strong time management and organizational/record-keeping skills.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all duties.

  • Ability to multi-task, use independent judgment and sound decision-making skills, and ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of One Source Income Tax.

  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP Cloud is a plus.

Job responsibilities:

  • Processing, analyzing, and balancing the federal and state tax return filings and supporting work-papers. This includes collecting and analyzing financial information to generate tax returns efficiently, as well as maintaining supporting work papers and files while providing a clear audit trail to source/support documentation.

  • Preparing federal, state, and local tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimated tax payments at the corporate level and for related subsidiaries.

  • Maintaining tax calendar to ensure all tax returns and tax payments are filed timely.

  • Performing reconciliations on tax general ledger accounts to verify account balances.

  • Handling and resolving notices and assessments with taxing authorities and negotiating minimum payouts including preparation of responses, protests, and appeals.

  • Analyzing new tax laws, regulations, reporting requirements, and court cases, and implementing those that impact tax compliance.

  • Performing other tasks, duties and special projects as needed.

  • Recommending process improvements.
