VCA Animal Hospitals Veterinary Technician in Plano, Texas

Compensation: $20.00 - to open

VCA North Plano Animal Hospital located in Plano, Texas is currently seeking an enthusiastic Licensed Veterinary Technician and/or veterinary assistant to join our team. The successful candidate must be 18 years of age or older, and be at ease handling animals, providing excellent client care, and exude compassion for each one of our pet patients. You must have great attention to detail, have the ability to multitask, good communication skills and be willing to learn new things daily. We are willing to train the right person for a rewarding career in veterinary medicine.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient husbandry

  • Assist veterinarians

  • Vaccine administration

  • Draw blood

  • IV catheter replacement

  • SQ fluid administration

  • Perform routine dental cleanings

  • Performing digital diagnostic imaging

  • Nail trims and anal gland expression

  • Maintaining medical records

  • Ability to restrain canine and feline patients

  • Assisting with preparing and cleaning of the surgical suite

  • Assisting with surgical patients and procedures

  • Filling prescriptions

  • Performing laboratory work

  • Preforming follow up calls to clients

  • Answering phones and scheduling appointments
