Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s OneTech Parts Supply Chain Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Principal Engineer I.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the information technology development and support of Parts Supply Chain systems, applications, and services used to support the ordering and delivery of parts across 14 North American Manufacturing plants.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Parts Supply Chain Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Manufacturing Parts Operations objective to deliver the right part, in the right quantity, at the right time.
What you’ll be doing
Lead a team of developers to collaborate with Manufacturing Production Operations (MPO) business leaders to design, develop, implement and support technology products and services to support the ordering of $35B+ in parts required for the manufacture and assembly of vehicles, engines, electric batteries, and service parts across North America plants.
Collaborate with business and technical leaders to develop and refine product and technology roadmaps that establish annual key priorities, resources, and budgets that will be presented across upper management for review and approvals.
Focus on modern application design, code quality, and data integration with a migration path on cloud platforms and associated technologies.
Manage and maintain support team structure, resources, budget, and key performance indicators to ensure proper responsiveness and technical skillset to support applications portfolio.
Work across information technology platform, architecture, data, and cyber teams to ensure alignment with company standards for software technology, security risk reduction, and support structures.
Establish relationships and collaborate with global Toyota Motor Corporation systems to ensure support for integrated systems and data, alignment with technology & security standards, and strategic plans.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related discipline OR at least 10 years of professional work experience.
Advanced experience in leading Agile/Scrum teams in designing, developing, and supporting information technology products and services in a highly responsive environment.
Progressive experience in developing products and services for highly resilient manufacturing operations (or closely related) on a regional, national, and global scale.
Demonstrable technical leadership experience in product ownership and iterative design experience .
Strong ability to leverage AWS/Azure Platform to deploy high ly reliable and scalable cloud applications using Java, Node.js, and Angular.
Experience working in a professional environment requiring the ability to think critically about problems, decipher user preferences versus hard requirements, and effectively use online and onsite resources to find appropriate solutions with little intervention.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.
Ability to successfully manage several projects simultaneously while balancing the workload and constraints of each.
Added bonus if you have
Manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
Experience leading development teams focused on Supply Chain applications and service s for a large multi-national automotive organization.
Specialization in mobile software development and data integration tools and strategies.
