Senior Manager, Cyber Technical (Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering)

Job Description

We are currently seeking a dynamic leader with in-depth experience related to team building and management, vendor management and production support. This individual will provide expert advice on network automation, standards, removing toil, and well-managed practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of cutting-edge automation technologies and innovative practices within our data center environments. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in people management, working knowledge of AWS, a deep understanding of data center operations, and expertise in automation and infrastructure as code (IaC).

The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is responsible for enabling and evolving Capital One’s foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience and availability.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developer and Infrastructure engineers.

  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to deliver solutions to reduce toil, increase automation, and assist our teams with being well-managed.

  • Take a risk based, cyber security first approach when working through prioritization.

  • Utilize languages like Java and Python, automation tools like Terraform and Ansible, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services

  • Lead teams to provide operational excellence to critical infrastructure components for enterprise platforms

  • Guide best practices for security related appliances including following and implementing evolving industry standards.

  • Challenge and assess automation frameworks to support the platform products

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 6 years of software delivery experience

  • At least 4 years of people management experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in cyber security

  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years of people management experience

  • 4+ years of experience with automating infrastructure buildout and configuration

  • 3+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, or Node.js

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
