Schedule: Full Time - Monday- Friday, Day Shift, 7:30AM- 4PM
Summary:
The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Department manages care of high-risk patients pre-conceptually, and in the first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy. We provide specialty care in partnership with the primary Obstetrician on a referral basis.
The Coordinator’s position has a dual role of front desk and clinical responsibilities.
The front desk tasks are answering the telephone, registration, scheduling initial & follow up appointments, insurance verification & obtaining authorizations, collection of co-payments, scanning documents/records in the Electronic Medical Records, etc.… and as expounded upon in the job description. Excellent communication skills!
The clinical portion of the job description calls for certification as a (CMA) Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Technician with experience in an outpatient office setting, rooming patients, monitoring vital signs, medication reconciliation, phlebotomy, chaperone for required procedures, etc.…and as expounded upon in the job description.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for routing, archiving and scanning sensitive patient documentation, reporting critical values to medical director, scheduling and coordinating patient appointments, and addressing all third-party inquiries. Schedules all surgical cases in Penn Chart as case requests.
Manages physician's surgery and clinic schedules
Manages conversion from paper medical record to electronic medical record (Ambulatory PennChart), providing oversight and technical support throughout the process. Optimized technology, standardized processes and procedures, identified and resolved workflow issues
Performs patient check-in; elicits patients’ chief complaints through history-taking and observation within the scope of a certified medical assistant. Takes vital signs, height and weight, performs appropriate patient screening and puts patients in exam rooms.
Collect co-pays and obtain referrals and pre-authorizations when necessary. Manages/facilitates patient flow during patient care sessions.
Maintains and orders clinical supplies.
Greet incoming patients, noting their arrival time in the scheduling system
Confirm patient demographic information by providing Princeton Consent and HIPAA privacy notice to patient for completion
Instruct new patients in proper method to complete new patient information forms, obtain insurance information, set up medical record and attach copies to the encounter slip.
Answer assigned telephone lines appropriately and promptly, transferring to correct parties when necessary. Take clear and precise messages, assuring they are placed in appropriate location for communication.
Accountable for improving patient care through adherence to all patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.
Credentials:
MA-AAMA or MA-AMT or MA-NCCT or MA-NHA (Required)
Active certification as a Certified Medical Assistant
BLS required (Americal Heart Association)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
2+ years Experience preferred
Bilingual preferred
