Position: Health Unit Coordinator PRN (Emergency Department)
Clark Fork Valley Hospitalis currently seeking a dedicated Health Unit Coordinator to join our Emergency Department. In this role, you will represent the hospital in a professional and positive manner to all patients and visitors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the first point of contact for patients, welcoming them and assisting with their needs.
Escort guests to appropriate rooms and areas within the facility.
Interview patients and family members to gather necessary admission information and input it accurately into the information system.
Organize and explain necessary paperwork, ensuring signatures are obtained for all registrations, and route completed forms to the appropriate areas or charts.
Verify insurance information and obtain pre-authorizations by contacting payers; route information to the Health Care Access Coordinator for financial review, as necessary.
Prepare and maintain the daily hospital census, as well as other daily, weekly, and monthly statistical reports, and route to appropriate departments.
Schedule follow-up appointments with providers or other departments as needed.
Answer incoming phone calls, direct them to the appropriate area, take messages, and deliver them to staff, patients, and other departments as required. Assist guests, providers, and staff with phone calls when needed.
Order office supplies as needed for the area.
Produce daily logs of discharged patients and emergency patients from the previous day for provider contact.
Complete necessary paperwork, including transfer sheets, consents, anti-dumping forms, and patient health information, as required for patient transport.
Minimum Qualifications
Exceptional customer and patient service skills are essential for this position.
Strong communication, organizational, and business skills are required.
Ability to work independently, solve problems, and take personal responsibility.
Ability to multitask effectively, particularly under pressure, while maintaining high standards.
Proficiency in typing/keyboarding, computer usage, faxing, copying, and printing.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
