J. H. Maxymillian, Inc. is a union employer affiliated with the Laborers\' and Operating Engineers\' union locals in this area. If an applicant is not already a member, they will be expected to join the union; the unions have apprentice programs. Basic Requirements: - Attend work regularly, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, overtime as needed. - Work outside in all conditions, i.e. hot, cold, wet, and dry. - Be at least 18 years old. - Hold a valid driver\'s license. - Basic ability to communicate and understand directions for safety and work tasks. Laborers: Uninterrupted periods of various sustained strenuous work tasks at a quick pace, such as: - Lifting to move or load materials and equipment, up to 80 pounds; - Shovel sand/stone, dig trenches, prepare subgrade; - Clearing brush or trees; - Rake to prepare subgrade, spread topsoil, seed; - Enter and exit excavations or trenches up to 4\' or deeper; - Walking over and through disturbed areas on construction site; - Bending or squatting to lay conduit/pipe, work concrete, etc.; - Operating a jackhammer and hand tools; - Demolition and wrecking; - Pick up and disposal of debris and trash. Laborer Flaggers: - Long periods of standing/walking to coordinate and control vehicular traffic at construction sites; - Use of traffic signs, flags, hand signals; - Coordinate traffic flow with other workers. Operating Engineers: Uninterrupted periods of sustained operation of heavy equipment, such as: - Operation of bulldozer, excavator, roller, paver, crane, etc.; - Repair and maintenance of heavy equipment (mechanic); - Coordinate operation with laborers and other operators; - Use of best operating and safety procedures; - Current valid licenses, as applicable, i.e. hoisting engineer, crane operator, etc. J.
