DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Arconic is currently in search of a Transportation Operations Manager to join our Procurement Rolled Products North America Team in Pittsburgh, PA, Alcoa, TN, Davenport, IA, or Lancaster, PA.

Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities

Freight Payment * Manage Freight Payment Team in championing Accounts Payable support process for internal and external stakeholders as it pertains to freight payment in North America.  * Oversee carrier freight bill processing to ensure that payments are disbursed in a timely and accurate manner.  * Ensure that carrier payments are following current contractual agreements, including the identification and resolution of any freight bill rate and accessorial charge variances. * Identify root causes for recurring discrepancies and develop/implement timely and practical solutions. * Develop and maintain a continuous improvement mindset with respect to the quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness of the freight audit and payment functions and related internal controls, resulting in increased accuracy and a decreased risk of fraud and errors.  Review and revise policies and procedures as necessary to accomplish such ends. * Maintain regular and ongoing communications with carriers in order to ensure the timely receipt of all freight bills and supporting documentation, reconciliation, and resolution of all past due amounts. * Monitor workloads of data entry and audit staff to establish and maintain consistency with respect to processing activities for each carrier. * Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, as well as the development and ongoing monitoring of metrics that track key performance indicators within the freight audit and payment functions. * Function as a systems subject matter expert within the carrier invoicing portion of the TMS. * Provide input for system development of the BluJay transportation management system. This includes system interfaces with ERP and the EDI processes. * Coordinate the set up and maintenance of third-party carrier profiles within the TMS and ERP and the transfer of approved freight payments from the TMS to ERP.  * Support the carrier aspects of all start-up and transitional transportation services operations. * Supervise all Transportation Manager System (TMS) AP processes. * Lead settlement and accrual review meetings.

Centralized Transportation Planning * Manage Central Dispatch Team and ensure the below activities are operating effectively and efficiently: * Central dispatch acts as the escalation point for the sites and suppliers to support and manage shipments which require a high level of urgency, are complex in nature, MSO shipments, or those that require special attention. * Coordinates shipments with carriers for location and supplier specific requests to ensure shipments are scheduled, requirements are meet, and shipments deliver on time to meet the locations time frame. * Supports sites with finding solutions for required expedited shipments. * Arranging hot shot shipments and obtaining internal approval for quoted expedited charges, * Working with carriers to reroute and prioritize shipments when needed, * Tracking progression of shipments and providing status updates to stakeholders. * Supports Freight Payment team by creating shipments in TMS to resolve carrier statements which include shipments without shipment records in the TMS system. This includes collaborating with stakeholders to ensure shipments are valid prior to entry, root cause of the issue, and working with stakeholders and the locations/suppliers to ensure compliance with the defined process in the future. * Abides by all policies and established system processes to ensure effective selection of lowest cost carriers at negotiated rates. * Rate Management: Receives requests for carrier rate changes from the Category Managers and updates rates within the T S System and ensures planned shipments within the TMS system have rates established. * Provide Holiday coverage when locations are operating to ensure critical shipments are planned without delay. * Responsible to support suppliers for inbound deliveries including, assisting suppliers in utilization of the TMS system, establishing user accounts, creating templates, training, and troubleshooting requests from suppliers.

Key Objectives * Effectively manage the Transportation Operations team to ensure employees operate effectively and efficiently and continuous personal development of the team. * Oversee the Freight Payment team to ensure carrier balances are reconciled, payments are made according to contractual rates, and payments to carriers are made on time according to contracted terms. * Establish an effective internal control structure to ensure payments are valid and accurate and support the Finance & Accounting teams with establishing accurate financial postings in accordance with closing requirements. * Ensuring regular audits of freight payment transactions to identify potential inaccuracies in the TMS system master data and carrier conformance to the contractual agreement. * Effectively support the sites by assisting in requests to the Transportation Operations team. * Continuous training and utilization of the TMS system across the entire Transportation Operations team to drive efficiency, knowledge and optimize costs for Arconic. * Continuously evaluate and standardize process flows for Transportation Operations to optimize efficiency through automation. * Establish and track Key Performance Indicators that drive continuous improvements within Arconic and the Transportation Operations team. * Liaise with key stakeholders (Strategic Transportation sourcing, Logistics Planning, Marketing, Finance, & Supply Chain, Carriers) to ensure business objectives are achieved. 

Qualifications Basic Qualifications  * Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution  * 5 years of experience in a finance/accounting, freight payment, supply chain, or procurement role * Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. * This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.   Preferred Qualifications  * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or information systems field of study. * 2 years as a supervisor within a high-volume processing environment.  * Experience in a logistics or transportation environment, with a focus on transportation rates and accessorial charges.  * Good understanding of warehouse and transportation procedures/operations; strong problem solving, organization, decision-making, communication, and time management skills. * Experience with a TMS will be required to understand all the impacts of any carrier resolutions in the system. * Detail oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills. * Advanced skills in Excel, with ability to summarize and present large volumes of data in a concise manner. * Proven ability to function as a Subject Matter Expert with respect to specialized systems applications. * Excellent customer service skills wi
