UPMC Statistician (Part Time) - The Youth and Family Research Program (YFRP) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Youth and Family Research Program (YFRP) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to understanding the development of alcohol use disorder. We are seeking a part time Statistician to perform analyses examining the genetic and environmental influences underlying alcohol use disorder.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and carry out statistical analysis

  • Collaborate closely with investigators and other team members as needed to complete publications etc.

  • Document analyses and constructs used in analysis.

  • Participate in the preparation of manuscripts and research reports and presentations from data generated by these studies.

  • Write new programs for data analysis and conduct new data analysis as needed.

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Psychology, or a related Social Science field is required.

  • One year of relevant experience with statistical analyses and packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R) and Microsoft Office components (e.g. EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint) preferably in research setting.

  • Analytic skills include regression analysis and machine learning algorithms, specifically unsupervised learning such as k-means and hierarchical clustering

  • Excellent command of R, SPSS, SAS, and preferably Mplus.

  • Knowledge of structural equation modeling

  • Interest in and ability to learn methods for analyzing genomic data (prior experience not necessary but desired)
