The Standardized/Simulated Patient SP Program, coordinated through the Office of Medical Education OMED, is dedicated to providing medical students with the opportunity to become more compassionate communicators and influential members of the medical community. The program is integral to the medical school curriculum, ensuring the opportunity in each curricular year for experiential, hands-on learning to enrich the

students educational experience in clinical and interpersonal skills.

A minimum of two years of experience in the role of a Standardized Patient, or experience working in simulation implementation is preferred.

Must have knowledge, experience, and skills in simulation methodology and demonstrable strong writing, research, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to adhere to strict timelines and comply with identified standards is required. Must also possess excellent interpersonal, computer, customer service, problem analyzing, and problem-solving skills. The ability to collaborate and cooperate with diverse individuals, agencies, and organizations is also required

 

Job Summary

Supports simulation-based training sessions, mentors clients, and facilitates ongoing observations. Portrays simulations of various characters within a child welfare or patient training setting.

 

Essential Functions The Simulation Program Assistant serves the Standardized Patient Program by implementing simulation program tasks to support simulation-based training sessions for the School of Medicine. The incumbent will portray characters in assigned sessions, attend trainings, and provide learner feedback. This role will work extensively with all six schools of the Health Sciences in an interprofessional education training program. In addition to the tasks above, the incumbent will liaise with representatives from each school, schedule learners, and help to develop cases and other training materials.

Portray simulations of various characters during scheduled simulation-based training sessions: *Participates in standardized patient onboarding sessions *Participates in training sessions *Provides learner feedback in verbal and written form *Contributes to continuous quality improvement of case development and delivery

Provides administrative supports to simulation-based training sessions: *Collaborate with other school representatives to determine schedules, learner needs, and other relevant information *Schedule learners in sessions *Support development of cases and other training materials.

Physical Effort Operates computers and other office equipment, communicate effectively with management contacts, perform under pressure. Incumbent is expected to move about Alan Magee Scaife Hall particularly and the University and teaching hospitals generally. Incumbent may be expected to life and move as necessary objects e.g., equipment and materials of approximately 10 to 25 lbs. and push carts with materials and supplies.
