Hitachi Rail STS USA SENIOR SIGNALING DESIGN ENGINEER in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania
Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., seeks a Senior Signaling Design Engineer to work in Pittsburgh, PA, and unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location. The Senior Signaling Design Engineer will design complex and medium national/international railroad signaling functional systems. Specific duties include: (1) reviewing of hardware and functional signaling design requirements allocation and gap analysis with demonstrating the compliance of design documents by the traceability; (2) ensuring the delivery of hardware and functional signaling design compliant with project requirements (through requirement traceability), budgets, schedules, industry standards, and company guidelines and processes; (3) ensuring the delivery of hardware and functional signaling design documentation (including system requirements and architecture, signaling rules, interface control, scheme plans, control tables, block design, and analyses), training support documents to improve knowledge of industry standards (e.g., CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, IPC, etc.), and company standard solutions; (4) participating in technical reviews to detect design errors, process and tool inefficiencies, ensuring the identification and implementation of corrective and improvement actions; (5) creating and monitoring the effective implementation of a lessons learned database where the detected design errors, process, and tool inefficiencies, and the related corrective actions, are duly recorded; (6) execution of analysis sequences to address the feedback from validation and site tests, execution of the verification activities on issued documents in accordance with the V&V Plan; and (7) providing a technical interface for hardware and functional design matters for other departments.
This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology plus five years of experience in a signaling design and delivery position in or for the railway industry required.
Must have experience with: (1) single and double line track and cable plans design for interlocking and non-interlocking locations; (2) review, analysis, and design of relay- and microprocessor-based wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established signaling design principles for European and North America signaling systems; (3) microprocessor devices (particularly MicroLok II) and digital application logic design; (4) signaling application logic developing, debugging, and troubleshooting by using MicroLok II Development System; and (5) developing factory and field test procedures, performing factory and field test setup, and testing of train control technology, including system integration testing with Carborne, office and other signaling systems for European or North America signaling market.
