PNC Security Staff Manager - IT Security / Endpoint Detection and Response in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

As a Security Staff Manager within PNC’s Enterprise Technology & Security organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX. This position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at manager’s discretion.

As a Security Staff Manager of the Security Platforms Team, your overall job responsibilities will include supporting the Global Security Fusion Center (GSFC), the Enterprise Information Security organization, and various cross-functional technology teams across the enterprise. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Managerial Functions

· Establish, communicate, and monitor goals for endpoint detection and response program and expectations for your immediate direct reports to achieve company and department mission

· Maximize department achievements by providing professional development, managing performance, offering training, and supporting and evaluating individual contributors

· Champion vendor engagements, manage and monitor vendor relationships, and support budget forecasting, capital planning, and invoicing of security technology spend and professional service engagements

· Ensure business needs are met through effective prioritization of work and efficient allocation of resources

· Leads team that oversees the day-to-day operations and effectiveness of assigned security technology and program

Business Acumen

· Serve as a strategic leader for endpoint detection and response (EDR) technologies and program

· Possess strong analytical and emotional intelligence skills to continuously improve security program and install trust with employees to achieve success

· Develop and strengthen relationships through effective communication and coordination between cross-function teams and instilling trust with individual contributors and other managers

· Create and maintain appropriate policies, procedures, metrics, processes, documentation, presentations, communications, and debriefs for varying levels of the organization, external stakeholders, and in some cases direct customers

· Ensure team activities comply with all applicable and appropriate policies, procedures, best practices, controls, and security standards

Technical Expertise

· Serve as technical expert and demonstrate hands-on-keyboard experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR), network detection and response tools, and/or endpoint or network technologies

· Enable and continuously mature security capabilities and services to effectively manage risk of the attack surface

· Evaluate and improve security capabilities, services, technologies, integrations, procedures, and processes continuously and offer options and recommendations to mature the program

· Learn current and new security technologies continuously and quickly apply knowledge to achieve success within the organization; investing in your immediate direct reports' development is required

· Partners and holds accountable vendors and internal teams in support of program hygiene and maturity and technology maintenance, upgrades/updates, changes, and incident response activities

· Participate in on-call rotation, respond to security incidents and technology incidents promptly, and lead efforts troubleshooting efforts and restoration activities to restore services and/or reduce risk to the organization

Due to the nature of this position, we are seeking experienced Security Managers who are able to quickly identify and resolve complex IT/security issues. Additionally, preferred candidates will be able to develop and refine program and technology/security roadmaps, including setting priority and understanding cross team impacts, navigating enterprise processes, providing direction and oversight to projects, initiatives, and engagements, as well as to serve as a technical expert and/or strategic leader to management, individuals contributors, and business units.

Job Description

  • Manages a team that oversees the day-to-day operations and effectiveness of assigned security technology and programs.

  • Manages resources that enables security control effectiveness with a team and technology.

  • Monitor trends and continuously assesses staff/security system capabilities to meet business demands.

  • Leads in policy development, audit mitigation, and other tasks related to securing and maintaining the operational health of the infrastructure. Evaluates security systems, teams and processes to provide recommendations to maintain continuity and operational health.

  • Documents and revises procedures and playbooks for teams, processes and technology to provide a standard security practice and increase team effectiveness.
