Carnegie Mellon University Postdoctoral Research Associate - Mechanical Engineering in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Carnegie Mellon University's department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by working on a sponsored project in the Panat laboratory, and such other tasks as assigned to you.

Core responsibilities include:

Conducting research on nanoparticle 3D printing of ultra-high-capacity Li-ion batteries.

Carrying out fabrication, assembly/packaging, testing, and analysis of the battery devices.

Supervising and evaluating technical work of others in the group such as graduate students.

Preparing verbal presentations, quarterly updates, and manuscripts for publications.

Other duties as assigned.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must work well in a self-paced, independent manner, while working well in cooperation with team members and partners. Must be committed to meeting research project deadlines.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.

Experience and familiarity with printed electronics/3D printing.

A background in microfabrication is highly desirable. Familiarity with characterization tools such as SEM, FIB, XPS, and TEM is also desirable. Familiarity with the chemistry of ink preparation is a plus.

A strong aptitude and demonstrated accomplishment in micro or nanoscale manufacturing research and/or battery research. An understanding of electrochemical behavior and characterization of energy systems.
