UPMC Medical Director, Radiation Oncology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Purpose:
The Medical Director for Radiation Oncology of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Zabok, will provide the leadership, vision, and clinical knowledge to build one of the pre-eminent cancer centers in Croatia. Supported by our UPMC Hillman physician leadership in Pittsburgh, the Medical Director will perform direct patient care and will have oversight of the overall clinical care of radiation oncology patients at the cancer center. The Medical Director also will be expected to collaborate with Zabok General Hospital on overall care of the UPMC Hillman cancer patients.
Responsibilities:
CLINICAL OVERSIGHT DUTIES
Develops and evaluates annual goals and objectives for clinical, educational, and programmatic activities.
Advises senior management on the development and review of programs, positions, and budgets.
Collaborates closely with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center physician leadership to integrate the cancer center in Croatia into the UPMC Hillman network.
Provides direct supervision for other radiation oncologists on staff and indirect supervision for other clinical personnel in the radiation oncology department.
Ensures the quality of clinical care through implementation and oversight of quality management programs and processes.
Reviews complaints and grievances in accordance with clinic procedures and ensures prompt response and action at all stages of the complaint and grievance process.
Supports patient satisfaction with the care management process.
Implements clinical policies and enforces those policies through appropriate action. ? Maintains effective professional liaison with all levels of executive and medical staff.
Implements programs of quality care analysis, peer review, and professional education.
Promotes a coordinated, interdisciplinary approach to patient management and participates in the development of integrated services within the clinic.
Improves clinical quality outcomes by facilitating the development and implementation of patient management protocols, guidelines, and algorithms, as well as participating in clinical audits and outcome analysis.
Supports the development of a clinical research program.
Represents UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in local outreach activities, professional societies, and government affairs.
CLINICAL DUTIES
Performs patient management on an outpatient basis within the cancer center.
Provides on-call coverage to radiation oncology patients, with night and weekend calls on a rotating basis with other medical oncology physicians.
Teaches, supervises, and instructs oncology physicians.
Maintains an appropriate professional knowledge base through participation in CME programs, review of literature, and re-credentialing processes.
Ensures compliance with safety, procedural, and accrediting standards by regulatory agencies. Actively participates in external/internal audits required by these agencies to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
Promotes and maintains positive working relationships within the department and with other areas throughout the clinic, the community, and outside agencies.
Must demonstrate by his/her own behavior a strong sense of commitment to patient care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum 7 years clinical experience
Practicing radiation oncologist
Graduate of an accredited medical school with current licensure
Board certification (or comparable qualification) in radiation oncology
Experience in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiosurgery (SBRT) strong preferred
Previous experience in clinical leadership preferred? Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Croatian and English required Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
