Laboratory Research Technician III Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Essential Functions * Prepare all necessary solutions and buffers for techniques, assays and experiments * Carry out procedures and experiments such as: Operation of several types of sequencing; Grow and maintain bacterial cultures; DNA purification; Run agarose gels; RT-PCR; TAQMAN PCR; Fluorescein in situ hybridization; Data management * Design, carry out and analyze results of independent research projects * Routine maintenance of the laboratory * Oversee ordering of laboratory supplies and equipment * Collaborate with other faculty and technicians in molecular anatomical pathology and FISH labs Physical Effort

This position is primarily sedentary. However, some walking between laboratories and lifting of buffers will be expected.
