Laboratory Research Technician I Job Summary

Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.

Essential Functions

An important aspect of this position is the maintenance of the mouse colony for the whole laboratory. This requires skills (or willingness to learn) in animal handling, PCR genotyping, scrupulous record keeping, and preparation/ visualization of immunofluorescent stained tissues. As the successful candidate gains skills, their scope of work will broaden accordingly with the opportunity to lead their own project.

Physical Effort

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to use the computer for prolonged periods of time. May be required to lift up to 10 lbs.
