Executive Director of Graduate Academic Programs and Student Services

 

Executive Director of Graduate Academic Programs and Student Services will provide leadership in the areas of academic program management, student services, student engagement, and career development. This role collaborates closely with the Associate Dean in the management of admissions functions from application review through matriculation. This role serves as a key connection between senior leadership of the school and the day-to-day operations of the MBA and MS programs, serving to both 1 translate strategic priorities into operational realities, and 2 advise senior leadership on operational barriers and opportunities to inform strategic decision making. Operationalize Strategic Priorities 35% * Advances the mission of Pitt Business by translating strategic and tactical business plans into departmental operational plans related to academic program management, student services, student engagement, and career development. * Develops strategic priorities and goals for the department, in alignment with organizational strategic plans. * Oversees the planning and execution of programs, processes, and policies that align with the strategic priorities to advance student academic success, student engagement, and career development opportunities for students. * Collaborates with Associate Dean to develop and operationalize strategic priorities and goals for admissions functions from application review through matriculation. Advisor to Leadership 25% * Serves as an operational and strategic advisor for senior management and for implementation of overarching organizational initiatives and objectives. * Serves as an advisor to senior leadership regarding the academic program management, student services, student engagement, career development, and admissions functions of the MBA and MS programs, informing their effective decision-making on complex scenarios that will have impact on the school's strategic direction. * Collaborates with senior leadership to identify and evaluate organizational opportunities and barriers to success and contributes to the development of courses of action to capitalize on opportunities and overcome barriers.

Staff Supervision 20% * Supervises a departmental leadership team of Associate Directors, including hiring, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration. * Supervise and delegate activities related to academic program management, student services, student engagement, and career development. * Cultivate and maintain a departmental ethos of collaboration across functional areas, to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for students throughout the student lifecycle. * Manages work schedules and approves timecards for Associate Directors. * Promotes professional development opportunities for all departmental staff. Program Monitoring and Continuous Improvement 15% * Lead internal assessments of program key performance indicators to monitor program efficacy in critical components such as academic advising, career advising, employer relations, and student engagement and other student services. Carry out continuous improvement by refining program activities and developing and leading program enhancements informed by analyses of vital performance indicators. * Interpret ranking methodologies and criteria utilized by diverse ranking bodies. * Organize and oversee data amalgamation from diverse origins to construct thorough insights for rankings. Other duties as assigned 5%

Job Summary

Serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, advances the vision and charge, and leads all operations related to academic programs and student services. Leads team and develops policies and procedures to achieve goals. Collaborates to improve the quality and effectiveness of programs. Aids senior leadership by writing complex reports and corres ondences and managing simultaneous responsibilities.

Essential Functions

Implementing the School's strategic vision for Graduate Programs. Supervision of Graduate Programs staff, counseling students, and program management.

Physical Effort

Position is primarily sedentary but may involve traveling on campus to attend meetings/events. May require long periods of standing for registrations or events.
