Overall Purpose: As an Engineer III within Asset Management's Substation Maintenance Program Planning group, you will work on a team made up of engineers and subject matter experts primarily responsible for: increasing asset reliability and minimizing asset life-cycle costs ensuring compliance of a number of federal and state regulatory standards providing technical support to field during corrective maintenance activities, including test procedures, working with OEMs, and sourcing replacement parts developing preventative maintenance programs and asset spare strategies for substation assets prioritizing and planning proactive upgrades of equipment based on inspections, testing and condition assessments responding to emergent out of service equipment investigating and performing root cause analysis for unique or recurring failures evaluating new technologies and developing programs or projects for implementing new technologies on the system managing multiple capital and expense programs and projects to a budget, including prioritizing work orders and forecasting 5-year spend supporting colleagues from other groups within the company with data requests and recommendations, as needed asset data quality in work management tools (Maximo, Powerbase) as equipment is added, replaced, and removed from service and maintaining the job plans and preventative maintenance schedules and frequencies As part of this position, the Engineer III will develop engineering solutions to complex issues while serving as a subject matter expert on substation equipment to groups within and outside of Asset Management. Engineer III will develop and sponsor Asset Management driven projects as well as resolve urgent issues that place customers out of service or pose a significant impact to system reliability.

Location: Hybrid, Pittsburgh, PA. Woods Run location.

Job Responsibilities: Asset Strategy: Develop asset spare strategies by identifying existing gaps in control room equipment and miscellaneous inventoried replacement parts. Work closely with SCADA, Network Engineering, Telecom, and Substation Engineering teams to upgrade legacy equipment to provide improved visibility and control to the DLC Operations Center. Leverage new and existing equipment to gather substation data for purposes of assessing health and condition of our assets. Maintenance Planning: Monitor, trend, prioritize, and provide support in the repair and corrective maintenance of substation control room assets including SCADA system hardware, disturbance monitors, and annunciators. Champion affordability initiatives by making data-driven cost vs. repair decisions. Manage multiple capital and expense projects and programs to budget. Prioritize work within projects and programs and work with Schedulers, Asset Management, and System Planning to coordinate job scopes. Identify opportunities for improving efficiencies in maintenance practices to reduce expense spend. Trouble Support: Support in the investigation, mitigation, repair, and communications throughout the duration of the restoration of urgent or emergent trouble events. Contribute to root cause analysis, as required, and recommend remediation action or actions worki g with Supply Chain, Workforce Development, and/or Engineering. Customer Excellence: Interface with industrial and commercial customers to plan, maintain, and upgrade equipment at customer substations. Work Management System: Update Work Management System (i.e., Maximo) accordingly as assets are installed, removed, replaced, including creation of work orders, assets, and job plans. Manage work order, requisition, and expense approvals within the Work Management System. Storm Support: Support restoration activities associated with power outages due to storms. Other emergent work may require evening and overnight support throughout the length of the event.

Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college is required. Three (3+) or more years of relevant experience is required. Must possess valid driver's license and be able to drive to various company locations.

Skills and Abilities Utilized in this Role Include: Experience working in electric utility substations Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE Standards Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills Strong time management and organizational skills

Physical Requirements: Work location is typical office environment - desk and computer work is required Unscheduled evening and weekend work will be required on occasion Limited travel as required Must be able to work in various substation facility conditions (walking on uneven ground, climbing ladders, working safely nearby energized equipment, etc.) as required May be required to drive in inclement weather to support emergency service restoration obligations

Hybrid Work: Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
