ELI Program Manager
The English Language Institute ELI is a unit within the Office of the Provost that provides non-credit programming to speakers of English as an additional language from overseas and the local international community.
We are seeking an Program Manager who will play an important role in supporting many aspects of the program, including general office management, student support services, and marketing and social media.
The Program Manager is often the first point of contact for program applicants and must provide a welcoming, patient presence to a diverse population of people with limited English skills. Candidates must communicate clearly and be resourceful in taking the initiative to address a wide variety of student needs encompassing personal, academic, and visa issues.
Additionally, the successful candidate should have a strong attention to detail and organization, as the position includes maintaining files in various databases both within and outside of the department and creating government documents related to visa applications, among other office tasks. We are seeking an outgoing candidate who will be proactive and creative in terms of marketing our program and recruiting students through our website and social media. Experience with office management, marketing and social media, and diverse populations is preferred.
Job Summary
Performs all administrative and operational functions of a program. Coordinates all program events and personnel and provides services directly to customers. Develops and implements program policies and procedures. Performs budgetary functions and oversees media communications, website updates, and newsletters.
Essential Functions
This position will include general office duties such as, but not limited to, staffing the main office front desk and responding to email, phone, and in-person inquiries, ordering program supplies, handling cash and payments, scheduling program events, making arrangements regarding facilities security and maintenance, managing the program database and performing database entry, and maintaining student and program records.
In addition, the position involves general student services duties, including but not limited to, troubleshooting student issues, processing and tracking applications, creating and distributing acceptance documents, scheduling and facilitating entrance exams, scheduling and registering students, facilitating new student orientations, and planning and facilitating extracurricular activities for ELI students.
This position also includes general marketing and recruitment activities such as identifying and pursuing marketing and recruitment opportunities, attending marketing fairs, and maintaining the program website, social media accounts, and agent agreements.
Physical Effort
Typical office duties with minimal physical effort, in addition to occasional attendance at education and marketing fairs which will require transport of program materials such as brochures/banners.
