The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders, supporting the Universitys mission in education, research, and healthcare. We invite you to become a pivotal part of our team as the Director of Corporate Relations, Swanson School of Engineering (SSE).

In this role, you will serve as the integral part within PAEs Corporate and Foundation Relations department, reporting jointly to the Vice Chancellor of Corporate and Foundation Relations and the Executive Director of Development, SSE.

Key responsibilities include: * Building trusting relationships with key faculty and administrators and with corporate alumni and key corporate contacts. * Securing funding for strategic corporate initiatives as identified by the SSE Dean. * Guiding the growth of corporate philanthropy and partnerships for SSE. * Collaborating closely with the SSE Executive Director and her team to secure gifts tied to companies associated with (executives, owners) SSE or Pitt alumni. * Maintaining a portfolio of prospects targeted toward applied or translational science and commercialization. * Working collaboratively with multiple offices that touch corporate relations across campus, including the central PAE team and other research and business-related offices, with the goal of managing complexity and communicating clearly and effectively on corporate strategy and outreach. * Consulting with central CFR on foundation relations opportunities.

What you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field, with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience or experience as a front-line fundraising corporate officer
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Job Summary

Oversees corporate and foundation fund-raising functions for assigned business units. Creates effective stewardship strategies, programs, and fundraising goals that correlate to the Universitys philanthropic needs. Travels to prospects. Acts as a liaison for the University and philanthropic funding agencies; serves on many boards.

Essential Functions *

Engage in the full spectrum of fundraising activity, including developing and executing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate gifts from corporations and corporate alumni.

With the guidance of the Dean and other senior administrators, develop a portfolio of prospects to support identified priority projects

Work closely with faculty and others to understand how best to approach prospective donors and what the philanthropic needs may be.

Travel will be necessary to meet donors at their site, participate and industry-related conferences, and to meet key stakeholders and volunteers.

Physical Effort

Light. Little physical effort is required. Duties are primarily sedentary, although travel will be required. May occasionally be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
