Construction Project Manager, Mechanical

 

Oversight and construction management of multiple mechanical, plumbing and fire protection capital projects for the University, focusing on preservation projects for existing mechanical systems, mechanical upgrades to support academics, research and operations, and infrastructure projects for the University's campus-wide steam and chilled water plants and underground distribution.

 

    • Manages capital and/or in-house projects during the construction and/or design phase; provides technical guidance as needed.
    • Determines client's needs; meets with clients to ensure understanding of project management process, established budget, and projected schedule.
    • Develops designs and scope of work; creates schedules and timelines to ensure all deadlines are met.
    • Supervises the preparation of contract documents; ensures that contract documents and addenda are properly interpreted and followed throughout the entire construction process; ensures project completion and compliance with design, budget, schedule, and standards.
    • Coordinates with clients, in-house trades, engineers, architects, and contractors to complete project design intent; identifies potential issues and takes preventative measures.
    • Maintains proper records of projects and communications; updates computer records.
    • Monitors and forecasts project budgets.

Planning, Design and Construction oversees campus development, including campus planning, architectural design, construction, signage, and space planning services, ensuring the advancement of the University's campus master plan. The team provides architectural and construction-management services for regional and Pittsburgh campuses.

Job Summary

Oversees advanced capital projects and ensures quality, execution, and compliance of all projects with budget, schedule, client's needs, and standards. Works with clients to ensure satisfaction of services and delivery, defines and coordinates work scope and contractor services, and manages and provides technical guidance for construction drawings and specifications. Performs budgetary functions.

Essential Functions

Physical Effort

Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
