Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Outreach and Community Support Liaison. The primary function of the Outreach and Community Support Liaison is to work within Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other states as needed to assist underrepresented high school students and their families to ensure a smooth transition to Pittsburg State University.

Duties and Responsibilities of Position

50% -Relationship Building/Campus & Community Partners Recruitment Support

Establish and maintain relationships with regional secondary schools and independent counselors and administrators.

Establish and maintain relationships with key campus partners (faculty, staff, students).

Engage prospective students, applicants, alumni, guidance counselors, parents, and other key stakeholders/influencers.

Provide information on admission standards, curricular, and co-curricular programs.

Be immersed into the community, working with middle and high school students

Assist and communicate with parents at local schools, community organizations and agencies on supporting their children in accessing higher education.

Identify, establish, and manage consistent and continuous outreach with community organizations that have an active interest in outreach to all students in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other states as needed.

In consultation with Director of Admissions, conduct visits to select secondary schools and community colleges.

Attend local, regional, and national fairs to promote recruitment efforts.

Assist in the development of recruitment and marketing programs.

Seek key partnerships with significant community partners focused on access to higher education

Assist and communicate with parents of underrepresented students regarding university related events and functions. Examples include: applying for Admission; applying for Financial Assistance; applying for scholarships; registering for Pitt CARES, etc

Attend Admission staff meetings and main campus events as deemed necessary by the Director.

45% -Retention and Student Support Activities

Engage with current PSU students and student organizations active in Belonging and Inclusions programming, seeking opportunities to better learn and understand matters of campus climate.

Engage with current students on matters of recruitment and marketing strategies.

Engage with, and lead campus visit/access programs for both current and future students.

Engage with staff and leadership from the Office of Inclusion and Belonging to better identify opportunities for student success and enrollment growth.

5% - Other Duties as Assigned

Engage with the Admission and Student Life staff in training and educational programs addressing the current best practices in providing access to under-represented college going populations.
