Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the Biostatistics & Epidemiology Department for the School of Public Health located in Piscataway, NJ.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist IV is responsible for the management of a small research team, designs and conducts specialized research projects, and assists with supervision of other research technicians and graduate students.Duties include:
  • Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation related to research activities.
  • Coordinates and tracks study activities including recruitment, quantitative and qualitative data collection, and biological sample collection.
  • Creates, implements, and supervises other staff in conducting research and technical operations in New Jersey and at national study sites, independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions.
  • Assists with mentorship and supervision of students, fellows, lower-level professionals, and technicians in study procedures, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
  • Compiles appropriate reference materials and resources to develop online resources for cancer prevention n specific populations.
  • Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to research activity.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Master's Degree in a relevant science, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science with one (1) year of related research experience (with Bachelor's Degree).
  • Experience with Statistical Computing Programs (e.g., SAS, R, SPSS); Electronic data collection platforms (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics); CITI Human Subjects Research Certification; Biosafety/Bloodborne Pathogens Lab Safety Training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a relevant science, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science
  • Required One (1) year of related research experience (with Bachelor's Degree).
