Indian Health Service Motor Vehicle Operator in Pine Ridge, South Dakota

Summary This position is under the Supervisory Health Technician for the Emergency Management Systems Department (EMSD) for the Pine Ridge Service Unit. Work schedules will be on a rotating shift basis. The incumbent will operate a variety of motor vehicles including an ambulance to provide transportation services. In addition, will provide routine custodial duties for EMS department and emergency vehicle following general instructions. Responsibilities Operate a variety of motor vehicles including ambulance for emergency transportation services with loads up to two (2) tons. Provide custodial work in full range of cleaning tasks, preventative maintenance services to transport vehicles and to the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) facility. May require emergency roadside repair in urgent situations. Serve as chaperone and/or patient safety observer in the transport of patients. Will assist with lifting, loading, and carrying patients, medical equipment in excess of 50 lbs. Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Driver's License: In order to qualify for this position, you must have a valid State Driver's license. Screen Out: Your resume must demonstrate the ability to do the work of the Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: WG-06: Demonstrated work experience in use of emergency vehicles to safely transport patients, respond to emergency medical calls with respect to road safety rules, regulations, and driving through hazardous roads and terrain, prevent discomfort or injury to passengers. OR experience in emergency vehicle transportation safety and some experience assisting first responder technicians experience in a regular day to day duties.OR served as a safety observer in emergency situations providing assistance in routine emergency medical duties OR experience performing routine emergency medical facility cleaning, medical supply's stocking for future use. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Additional Information Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is being re-advertised to solicit additional applications.
