Description

We are offering a contract-to-hire employment opportunity for an Attorney/Lawyer in Pikesville, Maryland. This role involves managing a variety of consumer bankruptcy cases, ensuring accurate and compliant preparation and review of bankruptcy petitions.

Responsibilities:

• Handle a variety of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy cases from initiation to discharge

• Accurately prepare and scrutinize bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and financial statements for compliance

• Represent clients at meetings of creditors, confirmation hearings, and motions in the bankruptcy court

• Provide advice to clients on bankruptcy eligibility, debt relief options, and financial restructuring

• Draft and file motions, objections, responses, and other pleadings related to bankruptcy proceedings

• Negotiate with trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel on repayment plans and case resolutions

• Stay informed about changes in bankruptcy laws, federal regulations, and local court procedures

• Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case preparation

• Maintain consistent client communication, providing updates and guidance throughout the bankruptcy process.

Requirements

• Must have a valid law license and at least two years of experience as an attorney.

• Strong expertise in civil litigation, document management, case management, and legal research.

• Proficiency in bankruptcy law, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13, with experience handling filings, petitions, and motions.

• Background in consumer banking and consumer bankruptcy, with the ability to analyze financial statements.

• Skilled in drafting pleadings, briefing cases, and using case management software.

• Strong client communication skills, confidentiality, and ability to work independently or within a team.
