Summary
Supply Market Intelligence Analyst:
As a Supply Market Intelligence Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving strategic procurement decisions through insightful market research and analysis. You will gather and analyze data on supply markets, suppliers, commodities, and market conditions to identify procurement opportunities, support category strategies, and guide decision-making with fact-based insights.
Your expertise will help develop cost models, assess supplier risks, and contribute to supplier relationship management. Additionally, you will educate stakeholders on market behaviors and supply chain strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on supply markets, suppliers, and industry trends to provide actionable insights that shape procurement strategies.
Category Strategy Support: Deliver analytical insights to support category strategies and procurement initiatives, ensuring alignment with market intelligence.
Cost Model Development: Assist in building cost models for specific categories and commodities to drive informed decision-making.
Supplier Risk Assessment: Conduct vendor management analytics and supplier risk evaluations to enhance supplier relationship management and mitigate potential risks.
Stakeholder Education: Educate internal teams, external suppliers, and stakeholders on supply chain strategies, market behaviors, and opportunities for improvement.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present detailed reports on key research findings, offering recommendations to influence procurement strategies.
We’re looking for candidates who:
Have a strong background in market research, data analysis, or supply chain management, with a focus on procurement and supplier markets.
Are skilled at translating complex data into actionable insights that drive decision-making.
Possess experience in developing cost models and conducting supplier risk assessments to support strategic procurement.
Are effective communicators who can educate stakeholders and suppliers on supply chain strategies and market conditions.
Have a passion for continuous learning, staying informed about industry trends, and applying new knowledge to enhance procurement processes.
Excel in using data analysis tools, such as Excel, Tableau, or other analytics platforms, to deliver meaningful insights.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost optimization within supply chain operations.
Minimum Requirements
A bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, economics, engineering or other job-related discipline from an accredited college or university
Three (3) years of experience in market research, data analytics, data modeling, business analysis and/or experience in procurement positions.
In lieu of bachelor's degree, combination of college coursework and experience equaling seven (7) years in market research, data analytics, data modeling, business analysis and/or experience in procurement positions.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:
MBA or master's degree in job related discipline.
Professional certification (e.g., CPP, CPSM).
Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information.
Process skills that enable parallel gathering and analysis of broad data sets
Networking and social skills to work with a broad set of contacts across the organization and financial analysis skills
Ability to extract insights from market data and information
Verbal and written communication
Interpersonal, and presentation skills
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.
Major Accountabilities
1) Provides analytical supply market intelligence support to internal supply chain and business unit stakeholders to assist in the development of fact-based procurement strategies.
2) Research supply markets for information related to innovation, pending/changing industry regulations, commodity volatility, constraints and best practices associated with company procurement requirements.
3) Analyzes data to discover trends and dynamics of supply markets including identification of market risks, determination of trends, forecasts and changes in supply market environment.
4) Updates existing category profiles and market summaries used to track market and industry trends, commodity movement and benchmarking.
5) Uses market analysis to create should cost and total cost of ownership models.
6) Communicates with and delivers presentations to internal supply chain and business unit stakeholders.
7) Monitors major commodities and company/industry specific cost drivers.
8) Maintains and fosters ties to appropriate industry peers and groups to conduct ongoing research of industry best practices and benchmarks.
