Summary

Supervisor of Construction Management Services - leads a team of Construction Management (CM) personnel to provide field-based contract and construction management and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) observation oversight activities for Generation (non-nuclear) capital projects on a fleetwide basis.

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • CM services include constructability and contract review during the design and construction contract bid process and acting as the APS designated representative for oversite of all field-based capital construction activities for nine (9) power plants

  • (8 plants in Arizona, one in New Mexico).

  • Additional renewable energy sites may be added in the future.

Minimum Requirements

Supervisor of Construction Management Services

  • Bachelors degree in business, Engineering, Construction Management or other job-related field from an accredited college or university

  • PLUS four (4) years of experience in construction management of power plant retrofit projects.

  • In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in construction management of power plant retrofit projects totaling eight (8) years.

    Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Experience in electric power plant modification construction management.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and effective interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of schedule and contract management and the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) process.

  • Working knowledge of Maximo, MS Project, Primavera P6 and other computer software applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point.

  • Knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI) processes.

  • Experience in project management or engineering.

  • Project Management Institute Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.

Major Accountabilities

1) Provides leadership to a team of construction managers who are responsible for developing daily work plans, submitting LOTO requests, holding LOTOs and overseeing QA/QC.

Schedules and enforces processes and procedures to ensure work is completed safely, timely and cost effectively.

2) Develops a high performing team through effective staffing, training, coaching and mentoring. Administers salary administration and performance management processes. Resolves issues and differences by encouraging and practicing open communications and clarity of expectations to ensure team success.

3) Works closely with the Engineering, Operations and Maintenance supervisors to coordinate upcoming level of effort for QA/QC oversight schedules and assignments.

4) Works closely with the Project Management supervisor and project managers in assigning and managing CM personnel support services on capital projects. Assists in coordinating construction activities with plant management.

5) Assists Plant Outage Managers in planning outages and outage schedules.

6) Assists the Long-Range Forecast (LRF) team by partnering with the Project Manager supervisors in reviewing future projects for feasible schedules and constructability.

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

    *Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
