Responsibilities Job Summary The Supervisor of Facilities Engineering provides leadership for all shifts within the Power Plant and Facilities in a working supervisor capacity of the Medical Center. Assists the Manager or Director with coordinating, operating and providing technical and supervisory expertise in Building Maintenance, Power Plant Operations, HVAC and Energy Management Systems. Determines and assigns staff work schedules, assigns preventative and corrective work requests, monitors quality indicators, and performs other functions. Plans and schedules training needs of the Power Plant and/or Maintenance staff to enhance their skill levels. Coordinates with internal hospital departments such as Clinical, Safety and Security, Infection Control, HTM Biomed, and Compliance Office to ensure that all work accomplished is in conformance with applicable healthcare codes and regulations i.e. OSHA, CMS, City, County, State and Federal. Provides quality assurance inspections and completes and maintains necessary logs, inspection reports and department productivity measurements. Plans and implements initiatives to improve staff and patient satisfaction. Manages mechanical/electrical equipment replacement and upgrade projects. Solicits proposals, prepares the project budget and Project Control Sheets. Attends all appropriate project meetings for which assigned responsibility. Assists leadership with the preparation of the department operating and capital budgets. Assists with interview process, selections, and recommendations in the hiring of personnel. Mediates and helps resolve conflicts among staff. Assists in the preparation and delivery of employee performance evaluations. Monitors time and attendance ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The position requires the ability to work independently and productively without close supervision and manage multiple assignments in cooperation with all staff members. Encourages teamwork within Supply Chain Support Services and promotes a culture of service excellence. Operates and maintains Power Plant systems, HVAC systems and other building systems and equipment across a variety of buildings. Keeps current on all laws, rules, regulations, standards and codes relating to Power Plants and HVAC related equipment and systems. Coordinates and communicates department activities with staff, customers and administration in an efficient and effective manner. Follows up on customer service complaints, responds to customer requests. Advises, develops programs, orients/trains and provides direction to work teams. Coaches by developing and presenting in-services on techniques to better communicate, collaborate and coordinate/organize work activities and instill cooperation among team workers. Mediates, negotiates and resolves conflicts among employees. Prepares and conducts annual and semi-annual employee performance reviews. Administers appropriate disciplinary actions up and to including termination. Participates in the selection and hiring of new employees. Participates in preparation of department operating and capital budgets and administers those utilizing good accounting controls consistent with Honor Health's purchasing policies and procedures. Reviews for appropriateness purchase orders and/or stock/non-stock requisitions for materials or services. Provides research and cost analysis of products and services. Assigns, tracks and follows-up on corrective and preventative maintenance work requests assigned to staff. Verifies that corrective and preventative maintenance procedures are completed in a timely and professional manner and documented in the CMMS. Establishes parameters and methods for purchase and inventory control in accordance with policies and procedures. Maintains appropriate departmental inventory levels consistent with departmental goals. Reviews periodically and revises as necessary. Completes Capital Projects. Develops project scope through consultation with architects/engineers, regulatory compliance personnel. Develops and prepares the project budget and project control sheet. Attends all project meetings. Supervises project through completion. Keeps current on all laws, rules, regulations, standards and codes relating to plant operations, building maintenance and landscaping including CMS, OSHA, EPA, ADEQ, NFPA, NEC and all other regulatory agencies. Ensures that all work completed is in compliance with required regulations, standards and codes. Prepares and maintains all reports and documents required for compliance for assigned areas. These include but are not limited to Statements of Condition, insurance inspections, air pollution permit, and Physical Environment and Safety Steering Committee reports on Life Safety and Utilities Management. Implements plans for improving staff and patient satisfaction. Prepares and updates documentation that is the responsibility of Facilities to maintain to meet CMS accreditation standards. Ensures the Hospital is in compliance with CMS Standards, participates in CMS surveys. Develop and implement necessary policies and procedures to meet the goals and objectives of assigned areas. Adequately communicates and trains assigned staff in the use of these policies and procedures including compliance with system infection control policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED Required Experience 3 years of experience as a building systems technician or similar role Required Licenses and Certifications Driver License Valid driver's license Required
