  • About American Express Cloud Engineering: American Express Enterprise Cloud provides a comprehensive platform that enables business critical applications to have Faster Time-to-Market for American Express. Enterprise Cloud offers dynamic rapid code-to-development models and services such as Platform-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Data services, Chaos engineering and CICD Pipelines, etc. for application developers in a hybrid cloud environment. Enterprise Cloud enables Application developers to write modern scalable cloud native applications.American Express is embarking on an exciting Multi Cloud Hybrid Cloud transformation journey and is in search of an innovative and critical thinking engineers to build our Multi Cloud Hybrid Cloud Platform. About this Role and Responsibilities This position will report into the ‘Cloud Developer Interfaces and Cloud Orchestration’ Enterprise Cloud Engineering team.In this Senior Engineer role, you will be part of a highly talented team responsible for building scalable, secure, and highly available Cloud based Services within our Hybrid based platform-as-a-service (PaaS), while also gaining experience and getting exposure to many other open-source products as required.Your primary responsibilities will be to develop technical solutions to enhance the American Express Hybrid Multi Cloud platform, with a focus on building automation for highly scalable cloud services delivery.

  • Collaborate with the rest of the API/Orchestration engineering team, the UI engineering team, quality engineering tam and product management to build scalable high performant quality API and Orchestration solutions.

  • Research and apply recent technology and libraries that enable lean product development focusing on Chaos engineering

  • Implement API/Middleware solutions which integrates with NSQL, platforms, Kubernetes and public cloud systems

  • Protect APIs with security integrations like – Okta, SSO, mTLS, HashiCorp Vault etc.

  • Implement the best software practices that produce maintainable code, including usability patterns, code style conformity, integration, unit testing, and code review.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software Qualifications:

  • Preferably a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 7 years of experience in developing REST APIs using Google’s GoLang and/or Java.

  • Deep understanding of REST principle and deep understanding of Chaos engineering.

  • Strong experience with any NSQL databases (CouchBase and ETCD is preferable)

  • Deep understanding of security integrations – Okta, mTLS, SSO, HashiCorp Vault etc.

  • Deep understanding of API Gateways and their functions.

  • Experience with any of the Container and cloud Orchestration technologies – Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform etc.

  • Deep understanding of CI/CD process and tools like – GitHub/Actions, Docker, Jenkins,

  • Good understanding of Infrastructure fundamentals like DNS, F5, Certificates, Containers, monitoring tools, Logging analytic tools, Firewalls & Security policies

  • Successful track record of developing middleware solutions, with a strong focus on code quality, unit testing, integration testing, code quality analysis tools and API (Swagger) documentation.

  • Familiar with agile application development methods. Understanding of QE processes in general.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
