NDT Technician 2

Performs non-destructive FPI testing on a variety of sheet metal aircraft components.

Functions and Responsibilities (consists of but not limited to)

  • Process parts and interpret findings in accordance with internal and external specifications and requirements.

  • Follow established NDT technique sheets and ensures any revisions to established techniques meet internal and external requirements.

  • Support any NDT Technician 1 and aid with inspection.

  • Train additional NDT Technicians as needed.

  • Accurately document inspection findings.

  • Create and revise NDT technique sheets per requirements.

  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of NDT methods and techniques and proposes solutions to problems which impact productivity.

  • Check required dimensions using calipers, micrometers and other inspection devices .

  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.

  • Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings and documents.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

  • May demonstrate basic operations to others.

    Skills and Experience

  • ASNT Certified in FPI, and working towards Digital X-Ray Inspection.

  • Able to read and understand manufacturing planning, engineering blueprints and sketches.

  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Can find appropriate information and ask for help when necessary.

  • Knowledge of shop math and precision measurement equipment.

  • Possess adequate knowledge of NDT processes to be able to anticipate problems in order to implement effective and productive inspection techniques.

  • General knowledge of welding and forming processes.

    Working Conditions

    Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, respirator, and rubber gloves as required.

    Physical Requirements

    Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.
