Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing mechanical and/or electrical repairs and adjustments on production and packaging equipment. This includes working on cup machines, inspectors, baggers, pre-expansion machines, conveyors, repairing molds, and performing mold change-overs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems by inspecting and disassembling equipment to determine the extent of repairs necessary.

  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and hydro repairs on cup machines, inspectors, bagging machines, pre-expansion machines, and conveyors.

  • Use drawings, diagrams, operational manuals, and manufacturing specifications when diagnosing problems and making repairs.

  • Conduct equipment evaluations at the start of the shift to ensure production flow is consistent.

  • Repair and rebuild parts such as lift, bagger, pre-expansion, and inspector cylinders, along with pneumatic valves, steam, and air regulators.

  • Make up and replace lengths of steam hoses, air and water lines, including pipe threading.

  • Prepare and repair cup molds while working in the mold cage.

  • Perform mold change-overs on cup machines.

  • Provide assistance to other Maintenance Mechanics working on production machines and associated equipment.

  • Communicate immediately with the leadership team about any failure to meet established quality standards to ensure required training and action.

Essential Skills

  • Electrical troubleshooting

  • Automation

  • Pneumatics

  • Hydraulics

  • At least two years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in 24VDC, 120/240/480VAC

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills

  • PLC/HMI experience

  • High-speed automation and manufacturing experience

  • PLC troubleshooting

  • Preventive maintenance

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Adhere to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP, and SQF process requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and sound judgment

  • Mathematical knowledge

  • Basic PC skills including Excel and the use of web-based applications to use FedEx, UPS, and print labels

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English to complete job-specific paperwork

Work Environment

Shift: 6pm-6am (training will be 6am-4pm for 4-6 weeks). The facility is half swamp cooled and half air-conditioned. PPE including hairnet, hearing protection, and safety glasses with side guards must be worn while working. Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
